The Family
We have had some fun times living with my aunt, uncle, and teenage cousins. A couple of weeks ago, my 18-year-old cousin Jackson was asked to a dance. The girl who asked him sent a little boy about Lyla’s age to the door with a sign around his neck. We thought it would be funny for Lyla to answer her back. We practiced for days getting Lyla to say, “Melanie, Jackson says YES!” We took Lyla to the high school, found Melanie in her class, Lyla gave her a rose, and very quietly to me, not Melanie, said her line. I tried to get her to say it loud the way we practiced, but I had no success. Milee finally stepped in for her little sister and we got the job done.

We made caramel apples one week for Family Home Evening. These were no ordinary caramel apples. We had peanuts, Snickers, Kit-Kat, Heath, Reese’s PB Cups, and Oreo to dip the apples in after the caramel. They were delicious! We cut them up and shared them all. Yummy!

What can I say? It’s obvious it’s Halloween. Milee was the prettiest Genie, and Lyla was the most adorable scarecrow. I bought Colby and I these T-shirts at Wal-Mart. I didn’t want to be a scrooge for Halloween this year and not dress up. I loved these shirts. They were easy and cheap! Before trick-or-treating, we always have soup and breadsticks with my aunt and her family and my uncle and his family. I love this tradition. We completed our same route around the neighborgood and came home with a load of candy. Once again, I love Halloween!

We had a great time carving pumpkins this year. We drove out to the highway and the girls picked out their pumpkins on the side of the road. Milee’s pumpkin of course looked the most professional since Colby, the graphic designer, helped her. Lyla wanted a vampire pumpkin. I did my best. Then Lyla had to clean off all my crayon marks. I’ll bet she had the cleanest pumpkin in the neighborhood. I love the traditions of Halloween. They are as good as Christmas’s.

I love Halloween because of all the fun things I get to do with my girls. One of them is the pumpkin walk. Some of the scenes are so creative, and we always have a good laugh. At the end of the walk, there are tons of wood cut-outs and a real witch.

I know I’m bragging here, but some days my girls look so cute I just have to take a picture.

We had a fun time again at Gardner Village to see the witches. The kids got dressed up so they could be in the costume parade, which consisted of five seconds dancing across the stage. Oh well, they had a blast!

I signed Milee and Lyla up to be Lil’ Grizz cheerleaders. They learned a dance and a cheer, then performed them at half-time at one of the Logan High football games. There were so many girls and so many parents that I didn’t get a good video of my kids. You’ll just have to trust me that they were so cute and did so well. Even Lyla!

We had a great time at the Aggie homecoming parade as usual. The girls were especially excited to see Big Blue and Santa Claus?! We went to the football game with my mom and dad. We love cheering on our Aggies who won! Way to go boys!

Parades on not just for the Fourth of July in Cache Valley. We took the girls to Mountain Crest High School’s, Logan High School’s, and USU’s homecoming parades (as seen in the previous post). Needless to say, we have bags full of candy and it’s almost Halloween. My cousin Jackson was nominated for homecoming royalty. My other cousin Mazey is on the volleyball team. Milee and Lyla had fun watching their buddies in the parade, and as you can tell from Lyla’s face, she was not happy when the parade was over.
